Home - Journeys - Thailand and Vietnam 2025 - Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan
Hua Hin is a small but well-known seaside resort. It is located on the Gulf of Thailand on the Malay Peninsula. It is approximately 200 kilometers south of Bangkok.
Hua Hin is easily accessible by car. From Bangkok, it takes three hours to reach Hua Hin on mostly good four-lane highways, except for a section over Thanon Rama II, where an elevated highway has been under construction for years. Many buses run to Hua Hin daily, sometimes arriving in Hua Hin, sometimes continuing further south. There are also daily trains to Hua Hin. Hua Hin has an airport, but as far as we know, there are no scheduled flights yet.
When you drive into Hua Hin, you don't feel like you're in a rather busy tourist resort. Hua Hin resembles a typical Thai town.
In a small part of the city, roughly between Thanon Damnoen Kasem, Thanon Naebkhahard, and
Thanon Chomsin, there are many restaurants, bars, and hotels.
Only when you arrive here do you realize you're in a bustling tourist area.
It's quite busy there in the evenings, but not during the day.
The nightlife is much quieter than, for example, Bangkok and Pattaya, and you won't find
many go-go bars here.
Also interesting is the night market on Soi Dechanuchit, where you can buy many souvenirs
and food, and where you'll also find many seafood restaurants.
If you're looking for a specific hotel, it's wise to book in advance.
We spent four nights in Hua Hin on this trip and stayed at the
Royal Pavilion Hua Hin.

We tell what we have done and experienced during a trip and we also tell what we think about it; no more and no less.
This is not a travel guide, nor is it advice to visit a place or not.
There are other sites for that.
Our opinion about places where we have eaten, drunk or slept is not intended as a (positive or negative) assessment,
there are other sites for that.
It is our view of the situation at a certain moment and that view is influenced by our mood,
the weather and many other factors.
